MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS: Eleven good reasons why you should join The U.S.-Africa Small Business Network (USASBIN) 1. Trade missions/fairs: Membership will allow African and U.S. firms to be part of trade missions, attend trade fairs as well as to meet with political and business leaders, in their perspective markets, so as to build strategic business alliances. These organized visits will provide rare opportunities for firms to assess and experience business environments of potential business ventures. 2. Exposure: Membership will expose African and U.S. Firms to members of "reverse trade-missions" here in the United States and in Africa with priority access to official dignitaries, business executives, scholars and cultural groups. 3. Information Clearing: With your membership, you will have access to official reports on various aspects of business environments in the US and Africa. The sources of these reports will include governments, regional and multilateral organizations, financial institutions, trade promotion centers and academic institutions. 4. Country-Specific Expertise: As a member, you will receive assistance in identifying suitable individuals and groups within markets of choice who will provide guidance (consulting) for your particular business initiatives, bringing to bear upon the expert's cultural background and professional training. 5. Education: On a discounted fee basis you will be invited to all conferences, seminars, roundtable discussions, workshops and luncheons where you will receive invaluable information about current events and developments in Africa and the United States. 6. Projects: You will receive, via newsletters, e-mail or faxes, information about various development projects that are being funded by host governments, bilateral and multilateral agencies such as the World Bank, United Nations, African Development Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), USAID and USTDA, among others. 7. Project Financing: You will receive assistance in identifying the full range of resources available both within the United States and Africa to finance your project. These sources include but are not limited to the financial institution in the U.S. and Africa, EX-IM Bank, OPIC, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme and the African Development Bank. 8. Research/Feasibility Studies: For individuals or firms wishing to enter or expand their African or American operations, you will receive referrals to qualified African and American groups to assist you with research and feasibility studies that will produce the desired results. 9. Personal Assistance: For individuals or groups wishing to travel between Africa and the United States for business or vacation, assistance will be provided in identifying destinations, cost effective modes of transportation and local contacts. 10. Employment: For members seeking employment in Africa or the United States on a temporary or permanent basis, assistance will be provided in identifying suitable organizations. 11. Networking: You will be invited to quarterly networking sessions where you will exchange your experiences and ideas with colleagues and invited guests.
